well, crap...

the title of this new line pretty much says it all...darn you sassafras.

continuing on my cleaning spree. i wish it was a shopping spree. i am filling up bags with garbage and sale items just as easily as i could fill them up with gap jeans and the above paper products. i am keeping nothing. (the whole idea behind this: sell trash, get new stuff.)

back to normal and sassafras rocks!

ok, when Sassfras says they give stuff away for posting their blinkie on your blog (randomly chosen winner each week)...they aren't kidding!!! look at all these yummies!!! brand new stuff here. mike thought i was having serious issues when i opened up the box and started going through all the stuff in there ;)

silly boys. they just don't get it.

so, things are getting back to normal. the boys are sitting on the floor in front of the xbox eating popcorn. mike is, doing something, and i'm blogging about it. i wasn't crafty at all this weekend and was barely even home. worked friday night. saw the boys off saturday morning. worked sat afternoon, met aimee after work at otb (that's not off-track betting for you guys back east. it's on the border --a restaurant). then we hung at at wally world and bought laundry baskets and milk duds. then we went to her house and sorted through a ton of scrap supplies from someone who shall remain nameless (sorry i called you out earlier, i had no idea. far too generous to go unnoticed, my dear).

worked sunday, went and saw terminator last night with aimee. and i have a new boyfriend. what a cutie. sorry mike :P actually...he kind of looks like you. especially since you haven't shaved in 3 days.

who'da thunk? i mean, i went to see christian bale. huh.

anywho, that's about all. if you haven't checked out the new BASB challenge yet, be sure to. also SYC is going to have a new one coming up here by week's end. i need to get to work on that. seriously. i've been a slacker on all of these challenges. i think i'm going to start a new challenge blog that is just make something, anything, once every two weeks and post it. that is challenge enough.

have a spontaneous sunday...that's the only s adjective i can think of right now.

Scrappin' The Music and other items...

i've been slacking at these challenges to say the least. i've only done one and it was late. so, b/c my friend Aleida is head of the DT over there at Scrappin' The Music, i have committed myself to do them. as much as i can. so this round's song is Magic by the Cars.

i took this pic last june (along with like 20 others) while mich, owen and i were on our way out to the airport. on the drive, i called and our flight was delayed like 4 hours (the first time i've ever experienced anything of the sort). so we hung out behind the scrapbook store, i got a dc from chicken e and we just took pics. it was fun. and he was so sweet. he kept looking at the pics right after we'd snap them and he'd say, "oh, i was making a silly face; let's try it again." but i like the silly face. so here it is!

many elements here from an SC kit...(i'm having a hard time keeping track of the contents for each month, now that i have a few under my belt. anyone else having troubles?) and some Pink Paislee, October Afternoon, and then those dang cute little epoxy buttons i found at Joann the other day (yes, i went). Colorbok has two new lines (new to me) "The Sweet Life" and "Lucky You". i think they are exclusive to Joann as i cannot find them online anywhere.

hope everyone has a great friday! i may post more later. oh, and keep an eye out for a RAK and a new blog look. I'm at 10,000!!! Also, this fine lady who is now a Garden Girl over at 2 Peas...well, i visited her blog the other day and was completely taken by how cute it is! i commented on the cuteness on the SC boards and she offered to make me a banner. but then she visited my blog and saw that decorating my blog is my 'other' hobby aside from scrapbooking. Thanks Kelly for thinking of me! and again, congrats on your new title!

honestly, i love 2peas, but i just cannot get 'into it' over there. i have a very hard time navigating...too much going on and too many people i guess.

and, if you haven't yet, come join in over at SYC. this week is fabric and i know everyone has a ton of that laying around! this is old, but is my second project for this weeks' challenge:

post 2 for today...

the new challenge is up at SYC! use up your fabric, ladies!!! this is a good one, so be sure not to miss out on the fun! here's my layout and i also did another project but you'll just have to go visit to see!

i made this bird house in a starbucks bottle to try out for the design team for American Crafts. you know how those birdies love to buy $8 lattes. i doubt i will get it, but it was worth a shot. we can all dream, can't we?

the pic is lousy. sorry. i suck. i also made a layout that i might share later on.

anyway, about my fam...i called my sis to see if she received the email about uncle mike. she did and she brought it to my attention that he was the last of the Mataraza brothers. the first generation of my family who was born in the US...they are all gone. and, my Aunt Rita, is the last of the four girls in her family from that generation. it is funny, there were four Abbruzzese sisters and four Mataraza boys, only my grandfather chose to marry 'outside'...he chose my grandmother Dagmar Hoover, who passed in 2001.

so, that got me to thinking about mike's family. mike's brother does not have kids, so michael and owen are it as far as the family name. we need to have another boy, i guess and name him John Allen Nelson. or John Allen Mataraza Nelson...and that would take care of it. of course, if we hope for a boy, we'll get a girl and then her middle name will be Mataraza. i know that would be a mouthful, but that's fine. maybe she could be Elizabeth Mataraza Nelson and we could call her Em. or Mary Elizabeth Mataraza Nelson. whew! poor girl. atleast they are pretty names, just rather lengthy.

i don't know what to call this post...

because it's boring and there aren't any pictures of anything. and there's a bit of sad news.

another monday. it was a good day overall, but could have been better for a friend of mine. i went to work today (for my friend) and at about noon she came home and told me that she had run over her dog this morning while driving the kids to school. how awful. i felt so bad i really didn't know what to say. he was a stinker of a dog, but very cute and if you took the time to sit and pet him, he would have sat there all day. just don't let him get loose b/c he would never let you catch him. poor louie. i'm so sorry and i hope that the kiddoes will be ok.

michael has a new friend at school. that's great. i'm happy for him! but michael gave out my cell phone number to him and he calls here every single night! the last one i didn't catch and he (without his knowledge) left a voicemail which recorded a conversation with his mother about me picking up the phone and saying this is karen. he argued that i was on there talking to him and said that i couldn't talk (which is basically what my message says). and the mom said something to him in a 'yeah well' kind of voice like she was mad. she probably thinks i'm a real stinker. but, dang. it was after 8pm for pete's sake!

anyway, i found this new site: pink paislee's live pink. it's very neat. "pink paislee" is a new scrapbook company and they have a forum and message board that is rather cool. you can blog on it, post photos, vids, etc and make it all your own. they really only want you to only post things made with their products, but i think there's probably a way around that by embedding remotely hosted images (so they don't get mad for using their space up on things they're not going to make any money off of). that's reasonable.

i think all companies should do something like this. are you listening scenic route? eh-hem? probably not....

anyway, that's about it for now. mike works from home tomorrow. have some errands to run and maybe, just maybe i'll scrapbook. but, i need to clean my closet out first. ew

re-vamp, feeding pets and fire safety...

yeah, i know. but now that i have my new SR, i'm thinking of making a new little polka dot house...i mean, how can you not love this stuff? it just screams sunshine!!! ooh, perhaps elizabeth needs to use it in her etsy banner!

perhaps tomorrow night after michael crashes. mike has subbuteo, soooo, maybe me and the big little guy can get a movie and a pizza, hang out, play some turbo yahtzee, throw a few water balloons at each other (that don't ever pop until they hit the ground), and hope that all that, combined with his soccer game at 3 (how inconvenient) will cause him to fall asleep, not on the way home at 4pm, but rather at 9 or so. the other little guy, mr. o...you can put him anywhere and he just hangs out.

here he is feeding the gomes. he'd take a piece of food, throw it at gomey and gomey would gobble it up and wait for another piece. oh, and any advice on red eye for a blue eyed boy? every single pic i take of owen has really bad red eye. even with the red eye setting. i'm camera challenged so...

it's so weird how much different the second child is than the first. but i don't feel sorry. i was the fourth. he's a dirty-gurdy though. so much messier than i remember michael being. that all sounds kind of mean...but he is so darn funny, i could just squeeze him to pieces!!!

we were playing on the floor today with this big car of michael's. now, when he plays with michael, they will sit across from each other and zip the car back and forth. when i play with him on the floor, he'll back up into me and get as close as he possibly can and just sit there. it is so darn cute. so, we zip the car over to gomey. no response. so i have to go get the car and as soon as i get settled to zip it to owen, here he comes backing up into me again. kind of like the time we took the video of him trying to sit on mike's head as mike lay on the floor. so cute. that vid is on my blog somewhere...

michael had his fire safety training this week. the FD had the mobile house unit where they went inside and watched a movie then had to low crawl underneath fake smoke and touch a hot door. they sure have come a long way in their demos. i think i would have remembered a lot more as a kid if i got to slide down the pole.

anyway, offer number 3, house number 3. this is the last possible house in the area where we want to live. a little above what we want to spend, but it's nice. and it's our last hope for a little while. until something else pops up. so, we'll see. i hope to hear something back before the weekend.

OK, i don't know if it will be like i'm going to describe in this particular post...but the text from paragraph to paragraph differs sometimes and i can't figure out why. sometimes it's all spaced out. perhaps it just b/c of what the whole P is saying. don't know why it does that.

i almost got started on a gasoline rant but i am holding back for tonight.

it's almost friday!
