uncommon combos, friday five, a recipe, and layouts...

i like polkadots and houndstooth together. need to make a wallet out of these. or something.

Friday Five:

• i'm starting to think the temp reading on my car is busted. it just says 108 all the time.
• arugula rocks. i always thought it had a peppery taste and that that was weird. but it says on the package that it really is supposed to have a peppery taste. go figure.
  
• i have about four different kinds of tan lines on my upper body.
  
• wondering if it's lame to go to the gym at 5:00pm on a friday night. cuz i think i might.
  
• my child swims like a fish.
  

i made this with turkey sausage, onions and green peppers. no grease needed for pan. just sautee and eat. no seasoning either. it's superb.

some layouts i made. i miss making layouts. i need to make more but lack the motivation.

Whimsy Wednesday and the Friday Five

friday five:

1. i really think i'm narcoleptic. i'm having troubles with my tribbles.
   
2. burping on purpose and for fun is normal for children under 9. i'm guessing.
   
3. cupcakes and cookies are bad. very bad.
   
4. i didn't realize you could still buy tom & jerry episodes on dvd or buy hubba bubba bubble gum. apparently, you can still do both.
   
5. don't try to make apple cobbler with buckwheat pancakes, twice. seriously. don't bother the first time. and don't ask either.
   

i'm hosting the Whimsy Wednesday challenge here...go check it out. you could win something from PDW. here's my challenge. not really much of a challenge. unless you're like me and can't find the punch you want to use when you actually want to use it. so, yeah...you need to use your punches to make something. i did a layout and then used several different punches and layered my shapes and created my own embellishments to use on cards, layouts, etc. you could even make magnets out of them. so, come play along!

friday 5...

so, i usually feel that if i didn't do anything scrappy or don't have a picture to post then i probably shouldn't bother blogging. but then i realized that it's friday! here's my 5:

1. i'm so glad i'm an American. i try to explain to mich about how good we have it here and i use examples of how things are in other places around the world. i don't think it will sink in just yet. heck, it took me 20 years to figure it out.

2. 1/2 cup sorbet in three bites equals brain freeze

3. it's raining today. i love the rain. so peaceful...

4. i'm still just a valley-girl i guess. hudson valley, that is. dying for the fall weather that will never arrive. wishing i could see this again:

5. and for the love of Pete...learn how to aim, boys!!! 34 years combined experience and they still can't figure it out.

1. i like how you can add and delete people at your whim on facebook.
2. went to Rue 21 yesterday. Aimee said, "Oh, go...you need to get some new jeans. You can wear that stuff!" uh...yeah....I. AM. FREAKIN'. OLD!!!! what's with all the neon???
   
3. i'm exactly one minute, 33 seconds away from my fastest Army 2-mile time (that was actually timed). that's something i NEVER thought i'd even come close to!
4. i need a new pair of running shoes.
5. big, huge pearl earrings...i like them. see? i am old :)

friday 5

5 random things for today:

1. if i never have anything to wear, how do i end up with so much laundry? does it reproduce? then do the shirt and pant babies magically disappear before making it to my closet? i'd like them to stick around so i could at least try them on.
   
2. ww ice cream sandwiches fill that empty chocolate spot, but cause me to make many typos. i think i typed this sentence four times.
   
3. the boys have taken a liking to bathing at 2pm these days. ???
4. the boys are using up all my hot water and i need to shower in about 5 minutes.
   
5. wipe-out on abc makes me laugh hysterically at 12:30am. it's funny to watch other people physically hurt themselves. on purpose. for money.

1. my back is jacked. i don't even know what i did to it.
   
2. speaking of jack, i'm going to miss LOST.
   
3. my favorite color is green, but everything in my house is red. why is that?
4. i'm going to make a salad for lunch and have a ham and swiss sandwich without the bread. (bread is too many points.)
5. i'm wearing pants today that i wore when i first met mike, back in 2000. woo hoooo!

i'm working on this little deal. i don't know why. a travel journal of sorts? except that i don't travel anywhere. i'll put it up on etsy and someone who tours bingo halls can buy it. that actually sounds like it would be a fun thing to do. huh.
i think the friday 5 is going to be a thing from now on. i like it better than the friday fill-in. i think i did that once. too difficult. so, i tag 5 people to do the friday 5 with me...some old friends and one new peep listed here in no particular order (except for Denise--i'm going to stalk her now instead of my LOST--but only on wednesdays).
